Sikshashree Scheme

Sikshashree Scholarship Scheme is for the day scholar students of Class V to VIII belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe category.

Name of the Department: Backward Classes Welfare Department and Tribal Welfare Department

Purpose of the project: The project Sikshasree is for those students of the state who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. To reduce the number of drop-outs the state government has initiated the grant to students of Class V to Class VIII. Students, who do not stay in government hostels and belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, are eligible for the grant. Each of the Scheduled Castes students of Class V to Class VII will get a grant of Rs. 750/- per annum and those of Class VIII will get a grant of Rs. 800/- per annum, while students belonging to Scheduled Tribes and studying from Class V to Class VIII will get a grant of Rs. 800/- per annum.

Who can apply: Students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and studying between Class V and Class VIII in government/ government recognised regular schools/ madrasahs or equivalent. The family income should be less than Rs. 2.5 lac per annum. To avail the benefit the student should have a savings account in a nationalised bank.

Certificate of income from M.P./ M.L.A./ Council or/ Pradhan/ Member of Zilla Parisad/ Chairman/ Government Officer should be submitted along with the application.
